Steering racks.

Steering racks.
What is a good rack to go with? I can use a Z51 rack in my car with no problems? I have found Autozone to be about the cheapest but that is the part that scares me..

Mine had a leaking pinion seal so i replaced it with a rebuilt Z51 rack.
Works fine and no more mess on my driveway. It was an easy install and since i didn't mess with anything else i was able to set toe adjustment myself.
P.S. The original rack was a base unit.

I would be sure to go with a GM part here, the stocker lasts a good while.

While you're in there, install some new tie rod ends too. You'll definitely need to re-align it either way as removing the rack requires the tie rod ends to come off. That'll throw out the toe.
Good luck...and if you need photos, I have some of when I did mine.

Jay: sure would appreciate the pics and any tips or tricks you might have, have a rebuilt gm rack waiting to be installed... also tie rod ends, new ps pump and complete cable set...
