Well there is probably a thousand answers to this but here i go. I did a complete tune up two months ago and the car has been running fine. I went out side today and started it up and it is missing terribly. WTF. What could cause a sudden miss? The only thing I have been doing is putting in Red Line Complete fuel system cleaner and i am on my secound bottle and half way through the tank of gas??
not yet, it was getting late and after packing all day to move i was wiped out. I am going to work on it in the am. It just seems odd that all of a sudden this would happen
Make sure there's no white smoke out of the tailpipes which could indicate a head gasket. Check fuel pressure to make sure an injector hasn't stuck open too. My guess would be that it's the ignition module or a plug is missing a puck - did you use the Bosch plugs? - they seem to have this problem.
It looks like the plugs are fried. They all have a little oil blow by on them. I see a possible valve job comming in my future. Whell for now i will start with the plugs. Wich ones to buy ??
It looks like in the polls that rapid fires #1 for the iron heads wich is what I have now. Also the NGK's rated very high. If I go with NGK's wich ons to buy???
New plugs , cap and rotor. Car runs 100% better. Heres the kicker. I disconected the ets to check the timming and I could not find the mark. Well after a bought an hour of looking I found the mark 180% off. What the heck happend here
are you referring to the outer part of the balancer moving at a different rate than the inner part? or did the rubber just start flopping out
if its the rubber flopping out that might not be the only problem
- my mustang ran just fine when the old balancer was falling apart, it didnt start to buck and shake until you could actually SEE the outer hub like not spinning, it was kinda cool looking back
I just had the same thing happen to me on my 86. The outer ring had slipped back and was actually starting to rub on the timing cover. From my research this is somewhat common problem. I was able to get my puller into the balancer and pull it off. Once off it just fell apart. I experienced no vibration problems that were noticable, not to say there wasn't any.
