I am currently looking into a new exhaust system for my 85'. I really want something that has a very defined and throaty sound, but doesnt have a resonance that will make me go deaf. It would also be nice if it could be semi-quiet at idle.
My question is what are your guys' favorite brands, why, and could you supply me with a link to a sound clip of it? Thanks again
I don't. But there are other members who have this exhaust. I would say do a search. I had dynomax's on my 89. Wasn't worth the money. Flowmasters are good. But I like the design and look of the Magnaflows. If you still have your cats you could go elims. I lost one of my mufflers due to rusted y pipe so I took the other one off. Rode around a week like that. You would be surprised how loud it isn't. Alot quieter than I expected so I would recommend if your on a budger go with the elims and have a shop make them for you with what ever tip you like. Magna flows are like 500 and to have a shop make elims is less than 75 bucks on average.
1985 vette....i would be interested in an answer here too. i also have an 85 and i like the exhaust, but want some more "corvette" sound to it. i listened to a billy boat....WAY to loud. i want my exhaust to serve 2 purposes....little more noise and also a boost in performance. leme know what u go with and good luck
On my 85 I still have the factory exhaust manifolds but gutted the cat and installed 40 series Flowmasters. It has noticable resonance but not unbearable. I like it! :seeya
I recently purchased the TPIS cat-back with the flowmasters - quiet at idle, loud at WOT, very little resonance at cruising speed. It has really perked her up! And they are all black, so it looks pretty good. :seeya :steering:
Have Flowmaster on my 85 (no cat). Deep rumble between 900-1200. Then smoothes out until 2000 rpm (70mph) and there is almost no resonance there. Cabin is quiet enough to talk and listen to radio.
