Default Installing Injectors (L98)

Do I need to oil the O-rings prior to install?

There is dirt and sand all around and partially in the injector bungs. I got most of it away from the injector bung area, but there was still some grit/sand/dirt when the injectors came out. Should I be concerned?

Other than an AFPR, anything else I should do while I have the the fuel rail off?

Thanks!

i changed the injectors on my 91 and i took a small hand held vacuum and suck all the dirt up. as for your injectors yes put a little oil around the o-rings.

Thanks guys. Also just read some archived posts about it too. Im a little concerned that when the injectors were pulled out, some crap may have dropped into the injector holes. How bad would that be?

Any little crud into the injector holes should be ok. It's not worth pulling the intake off to fetch a grain of dirt.

Get a q-tip and gett whatt you can...

Also, definitely pull the orings off, wipe down the injectors good, lube em with a bit of oil, and slip em back on.

I also sucked up all the dirt around the manifold by the injector holes. My injectors were so stuck to the manifold one injector left its o ring and plastic piece around the pintle lodged there. But I got it out. :seeya

Welp, I cleaned them up as best as I could with some Q-Tips. Just hope not much fell in when I pulled the injectors out. I suppose I'll know in a thousand miles or so... *fingers crossed*.

Before you reinstall, you can check the injectors for leakss.

Bolt it up to the fuel lines... but hold the fuel rails above the intake base. Don't forget to screw on the 9th cold start inj if you have it.

Putt a piece of cardboard under each injector... and prime the fuel system a few times.

i found three of mine were leaking, which explains the drop in fuel pressure after shutdown.

I would vacuum out all crud possible and clean each injector hole in the base with a Q-tip & carb cleaner till the Q-tip comes out clean.

Then a light coating of motor oil on each O-ring will reduce the chance of nicking one when you insert them into the base.
