leaking ZF6
Hi Folks i'm new to CorvetteForum ( used to be in NetteVettes Forum but they have dissapeared?).
My 94 Manual leaks oil from the gearbox tailshaft..have replaced both bush and oil seal but still leaks. I presume its the driveshaft yoke is worn/scored but I cant get a new one without buying a complete shaft!! I think I have read about a special sleeve that can be put on over the yoke to cure this?
Can anyone put me on the right track please to locate it?

I had a very strange problem in my ZF when my car was new in 95. I to thought that the rear seal and or bushing had went south. What the problem turned out being was porosity in the tail housing. The oil was actually coming out at the two large bolt holes where the torque arm is bolted to the tail shaft housing. The oil would leak out after the transmission was up to operating temperatures and would run out and around the rear seal making the appearance that it was coming from there.
Chevrolet wanted to replace the complete transmission back then, but I opted not to do that. I called the Corvette Action center back then and talked with Jerry. He put me in contact with ZF Industries in Atlanta and they sent me a rear housing overnight complete with shims and a seal. They wanted that housing back so they could find out why it was leaking. You may have the same problem as I did.
I found it by removing one of the two large bolts and the bolt hole was full of oil. Apparently the casting had some porosity there and when the bolt hole was machined into the housing it hit the porosity spots which caused the leaks.
