:iagree:
I would check the cats.Mine was extreme after a short trip until the cat blocked and I had to replace it. Almost normal now even in city driving with air temps over 95.

Mine does too; was going to put some thick insulation (Off a boat) in the tunnel to keep it cooler, but didn't because I actually found it a comfort in winter after my heater poopie itself! :D

Re: does your tranny tunnel get hot
at first I thought it was the tranny, but recently I think it's the exhaust.
1996.
I've melted a few of that split loom wiring harness material that is by the exhaust. I've never thought about wrapping it..

YES, it's the exhaust that causes the majority of the heat - if the tranny ran hot enuff to melt your feet, it'd be kissed - TRUST ME!

Living in the UK, any extra heat is welcome. :D
Mine gets pretty warm even with no cats - but i noticed it gets twice as hot if I have my lights on - I could cook an egg off the heat from the shift indicator bulb on my auto.

Re: does your tranny tunnel get hot (AGENT 86)
While I agree that the heat is normal, I experienced ALOT of heat a few years ago. It was so hot I could not keep my hand on the console for more than a few seconds. After a few months went by, I noticed my tranny was leaking fluid. Turns out that the excess heat was due to a lack of sufficient tranny fluid  . After I replaced the tranny fluid, the tunnel cooled down again to its "normal" temperature :jester .

I reduced a lot of the heat in this area by eliminating the pre cats on my L98.
:iagree: Same here. I removed all 3 cats, and the car runs so much cooler. :yesnod:
