How hard should it be for the car to start after you have installed the Superram and eliminated the cold start injector. It starts but it take a pushing of the gas to get it to go and then it has a slight stumble for a second. The engine is brand new and runs great after its started. Should I upgrade the coil to something a little bit stronger. I think its the original coil. My car is a 383 stroker with about 400 horsepower. :conehead
from what I have read on here, That can be compensated for in the chip. You would need at least some new calibration for the new components. The aftermarket ignition parts companies like MSD have some units available where timing is retarded just for starting up purposes as one of the selling points.
What cam did ya pick? Details.....inquiring minds want to know :D
You know, ski_dwn_it Jesse is quite sharp at tuning a new chip for ya. Drop him a line. He can help you optimize HP and TQ on the new beast
I have the same problem even with a custom burned chip which was burned to remedy/improve that condition. I don't push the gas to the floor however, in fact I don't touch the gas at all. I turn the key and back off it quickly. It usually takes 4 to 5 turns when my car has sat for a couple of days. When it's warm, it starts right up.

I had a custom chip burned using the ARAP bin file as a base. ARAP is an '89 calibration and supposedly the General's best shot at programming MAF cars. In 1989, the cold start injector was removed so it accounts for cold start using the 8 injectors. You could also buy the bin from a GM dealer unmmodified and that will at least solve your cold start problem but it probably won't maximize the Superram potential.
I've had the Superram on the car for 9 months now, but only started getting a slower cold start since I physicially cut out the 9th injector out of the wiring harness. Unfortunately '85 does not have a start-enrich table in the ecm, but 86+ has it, so you should be able to program for it.
Right now when cold after standing a few days, my car takes 3-4 seconds to start. When warm, up on the first turn.
