I haven't done anything constructive with my 92 roadster for several months and I'm thinking seriously about installing these mods. BBK and TPIS sell a Throttle Body and Hypertech is a known quality brand. Anyone had experience with these mods and/or the brands and what they will do for performance? Any suggestions on alternative brands? BTW, what is the size of the factory Throttle Body?
Thanks!
Steve
Vader is correct, going with a larger 52mm body won't do much if anything for you with a bone stock engine. Do a decent exhaust system on the car, for instance a Corsa if you like quiet, a B&B if you want more noise. A set of shorty headers and the cat back system will get you more than the HyperCrap chip will.
If you really want a chip I can burn you one to tell the ECM to run the fans earlier for a cooler thermostat, and take a bit of fuel out in the PE tables to help your WOT runs and add a bit of timing as well. Thats about all that HyperCrap does if they even do the PE tables. GM fuel maps are notoriously rich in the PE tables so taking about 3 to 5% out makes a difference there, but its not something you will feel. I maybe worth a tenth at best in the 1/4. Doing the Exhaust will give you a better bang for the bucks. And if you really want to feel it, change out the rear end to a higher numeric ratio. And as Vader says add a 2600 stall convertor if your car is an A4 car and that will make the biggest difference!
Actually on a bone stock motor a 52mm throttle body would cut down intake air velocity and thus possibly kill a little low end torque, would it not?
Hypertech power tuning does not improve torque or horsepower on an LT1 in a Vette-- GM already has them tuned pretty well OEM. I had a HPP+ for my '95. It was handy for setting the radiator fans to come on sooner and for shift firmness increase in the auto trans, and it was worth it for that, but the power tuning feature did zilch...couldn't feel an improvement.

I put a Corsa Exhaust on last year (great system!) and the rear is the factory "Performance Axle Ratio"...'92 style. I really don't want to change the rear so from what you guys say, sounds like maybe a torque converter is a better use of $ than a TB or chip.
I put a Hypertech chip in my 93 A4 Coupe. The reason I installed it was to turn the fans on sooner and to improve the shift points some. Driving in Florida, it gets really hot and in traffic, I really needed the fans on. As for additional HP, didn't feel any. But, again, that is not why I installed the chip.
