Default LT 1 balancer installation

I am putting the balancer hub back on my LT1 geting ready to put the motor back in the car. Because of teh design of the hub my Moroso Balancer Installer won't work. What did you guys use???? I'd hate to resort to the old 2x4 and a hammer on the front of a $1000 crankshaft

Be careful with that hammer. cause you can damage your crank seal and cause oil oil leak. Happened to my car 4 yrs ago. When my buddy hammer my balancer and I have front seal oil leak,

Don't beat up your crankshaft  Get a piece of 7/16 fine thread bolt long enough to mate to your tool and a bolt that fits the thread matching your moroso tool. Measure what is needed to get the fine thread into the crank so its long enough to mate to your tool, then weld the two bolts together to mate to your tool. Or do what I did, have a machine shop make you a threaded piece to mate to your tool.

If you are aggrevated doing that procedure with the engine out of the car, try doing that same procedure with the engine in the car, then it's a real ROYAL PITA

I am not sure about the exact measurement. The hub needs to be pressed in until it stops. I have a special tool as well, but it was still a PITA to do in the car. That damn crossmember and the steering rack made it HELL to do. With the engine out of the car its a peice of cake with the tool.

I lightly tapped mine on,with a small brass hammer, until I could get long bolt with large washers started. Pulled on with no problem. No leaks. Had engine jacked up about 1" to aid in clearance. May not be accepted method..but...worked for me. :seeya :flag :steering:
