Brown (the UPS truck) just dropped of my Corsa exhaust. I want to eliminate the resonator, and install an X-pipe in that section. I've seen several pics in the forum, but I was wondering if anyone had a p/n for their x-pipe. THANKS
tjwong had DR.Gas make him one for his 3 inch system. A little over $200 shipped. I ordered my 3 inch B&B with the xpipe, but if you order just that you're look at around $400. Here's mine on the car.
:yesnod: Man that B&B x pipe is a beauty! I don't know if most are aware of the fact that B&B is former Indy racing league driver Billy Boat. He sure does nice work. :steering:
Here is a picture of my Dr Gas X pipe that fits on the B&B 3" system. As stated above it was just over $200 shipped.
But if I were you I would be thinking twice before replacing that resonator from the Corsa system. The Corsa cat back is a straight through design and its designed to work in conjunction with the mufflers out back. You may get a lot of resonance without that resonator. Corsa has some proprietory reflective noise cancelling technology built into their systems.
Presently in my system without the CATs installed I have a lot of low frequency resonance from stop ligh to stop light. At WOT it sounds great, but how often are you at WOT. Ransome how does you car sound, as I noticed you don't have CATs installed as well.
Theres really no part number for this. It was a custom job that Neal did for me. It is made to fit my B&B 3" B&B system. Call Neal at Dr Gas, tell him that you are wanting the same design as I have. He still has the drawing on file that I gave him. If your system is a 3" B&B then this will fit. Otherwise its best to take a center to center measurement for the tubes and you will also need to tell Neal how long to make it to replace your resonator. http://www.drgas.com
I got mine from Dr.Gas as well. Good to deal with an very fast too. Had it in three days time. I gave them the measurements over the phone. There isn't a part number. Call the number on their website. http://www.drgas.com I have some resonance to deal with now because of Flowmaster Delta Flow 40's on my car. They'll be gone one of these days and maybe some Magnaflows tried out or muff elims instead. I have factory cats. May go Random's one day. More mods, more mods.....
Corsa is probably the ONLY exhaust I wouldn't consider doing this too. It has an H built into it. I used to have this exhaust. It is a great exhaust. Now have a Flowmaster that came with blower/engine combe that I will do x pipe to in future or something resembling it.
Tom, I've only started it up to pump up the lifters and check for leaks This was without the exhaust hooked up, so it did make some noise. Going to install the a chip this evening and see what it will do.
I've heard conflicting opinions about the X-pipe's performance vs. no X-pipe (not vs a Resonator). Anyone have hard data?
The bad things that I've heard about "X" pipes are that some of them are constructed such that the flow area through the "X" is considerably smaller than the flow area of the 2 pipes. This can restrict the exhaust. The pipes are only about an inch apart under the drive shaft, I'm thinking that a simple large diameter "H" pipe between them at this point may work well.
What's up with what appears to be ugly grey paint on the Dr. Gas X-pipes that I see? Are those non stainless metal pieces that are just painted with zinc paint for some limited corrosion resistance?
Dr Gas doesn't make SS pipes for now. They are cosntructed from aluminized tubing. Mine is going to the coating shop that will alleviate any corrosion potentials.
I (and a few others here) are running the Magnaflow True-X junction. Its a direct replacement for the resonator on Vette's. The price is only about $80 plus shipping from G&S Automotive. 678-238-2886. Ask for Terry. Tell him that Conrad with the black Vette sent you. This is a high quality x-pipe with a large junction. There are a few diameters available. I'm very happy with mine. I run muff-elims in the back and the resonance (which only occurs at a certain rpm) is liveable. Deffinatly sounds like a Vette should now. The x junction is also much lighter than the stock resonator.
I just bought the 3" Magnaflow X-pipe from Performance-Curve on ebay for $68 + $10 Shipping. This is the buy it now price from their ebay store. They also have 2.25" & 2.50" for $65.

That's a GOOD price! I paid $50 for my custom Flowmaster 2½" X-pipe.
Tom, got it all hooked up. Sounds bas azz. I'm still working on an idle problem and I had to pull the alternator and take it back to the shop that rebuilt it. I think it's got a bad bearing. Hope to get it back monday and drive it to work tuesday. :steering:
