Thanks to all who responded to my original post about Fastburn valves and my backfire. I had already done most of the suggestions from that post.
Here's the current situation, before next ECM chip changes:
Backfire "seems" to be gone, except on closed throttle. I have missing at light throttle 3-7% open. Performance is down, but I'm not concerned about that right now.
This set-up is a HUGE difference from my big-mouth setup. These heads push/suck tons of air and I suspect could handle a 58cc throttle body.
If I wanted to, I could cruise at 5600 rpm. Impossible (unless you're insane) with my previous setup. With no ECM, it idles the BEST it ever has, including better than bone stock.
Anything less than 3000 rpm stinks, but I am pretty sure I can ECM this away. Total timing suggested from GM performance is between 34-36 degrees. And that is un-polished or ported. This is why my spark advance table is "low", total timing max is at 36.9.
I rebuilt my complete suspension, u-joints and brakes before doing this engine. That was way too much work and money all at once. I'll never do that again.
And where is that guy who said the MiniRam was so easy to install? If you don't mind grinding new parts, fabricating fuel lines and brake lines and water lines and make new brackets and running new vacumn hoses all over the place, yeah it's a snap. GRRRRR.
My sig is missing the Random Technology Cat I put in- nice product.
I'm going to stop being lazy and post some pics tonight. I took alot of shots of doing the suspension, etc. I will post those on request.
Sounds like an ECM tune will get you going. Can we get some ET numbers when its done? :lurk:
Dyno numbers first. The guy that I will use to test it is really expensive. BUT he is a vette head with a 427 ragtop and a 396 split window. I will do at-least 2 tests to tune it up. Then I will look at ETs.
Big Mouth / big tube runners / ported plenum /stock 190cc vette heads. Nice street set-up, lots of torque for a 350. All the other extras were on it, too. except the random tech cat and 30 lb injectors.
EDIT: 6 speed - I'm not much for autos in sports cars unless you consider the Ferrari paddles an auto. :U

I'm not even a fan of the paddle systems. I guess it works well in a cramped F1 car, but I prefer control over clutch engagement and gear selection.
(I just wanted to know how I should interperate your dyno figures)
