ASR is a very complicated system. You really need to get a shop manual and follow the troubleshooting section in it.

My guess is the "adjuster assembly" is the motor connected to the accelerator cable under the hood. It is just in front of the brake master cylinder. The purpose of the adjuster is to relax the throttle, even if your foot is pushing it down, and decrease engine torque during a loss of traction.
