Here are my 113 heads that I ported & polished exhaust & ourside. Also note the stock polished valve covers. Can be done but I don't want to talk about the hours I put into it... :crazy:
those pics look really good. i am going to be sanding down my valve covers to repaint them, what did you use to get inside the fins to clean them out? the previous owner threw on a really thick and sloppy coat of paint and they look horrible especially inside those groves :smash:
Start w/ paint remover, there are like 3 coats in the factory paint on the valve covers (Grey, brown, black). Then I used a fine machinist file to smooth out the casting marks, then worked down from like 220 to 1500 wet dry sand paper. Did that a couple years ago, today I just used a buffing wheel on my grinder w/ some rouge to repolish it out again.
The stock covers appear to be alum. Didn't notice any color like you would find in mag.
