Default Need some exhaust help

I need some info on a catback system as I am looking to buy one soon. I only want answers from people who have the system or know someone who does. I am looking for L98 owners. What my concern is the wife doesn't like exhaust to be too loud. She doesn't like the stock sound but doesn't want too loud. That is a huge problem. But seeing how the car is hers technically I have to go with her opinions. I was interested in the Magnaflows and the Dynomax super turbos, but I hear they are really loud and have bad drone. I want an aggressive sound but want to be able to ride 200 miles without going crazy from the sound and being able to hear the radio and hold a conversation. I know you can't have your cake and eat it too, but I have 40 series Flowmasters, the resonators deleted and 8X3.5" baffle tips on the Impala SS and the wife hates it because it has horrible drone at 50-65 MPH when it is in overdrive. So some good honest opinions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I have the super turbo's on mine. they are far from loud, but definetly louder than stock (at idle). When your into it hard, they let the guy behind you know it, make no mistake. They do increase the interior noise, but it's not horrible by a long shot. I don't have to blast a song to hear it, and I don't have to talk loud to the person beside me. I found them to offer a nice performance increase, and I'd buy them again.

I have an 85 vette with a 2.5 in. duell exhaust with magnaflows and no cat. Its probelly too loud for a woman, but for me I love it, its loud. Magnaflow is a little quieter than the flowmaster with a deeper tone. Dynomax is quieter than magnafow with about the same deep tone. Thats my opinion of what I have seen. Do magnaflow for the cat back, not many people have them and I think they wouldn't be to loud with the cat.

I have a completely stock exhaust except for Flowmaster mufflers (bought 'em used on the forum). I love the rumble and my wife doesn't complain about the noise when we hit the interstate. If my wife doesn't complain, I guarantee yours won't! Just enough sound to make it interesting. :steering:

I don't know what to do. I know the wife raises cane about my truck(2K 5.3 Z71) which only has a mello-tone muffler in place of the factory muffler. She says that she hates driving it because it is too loud. It does have horrible drone between 1600-1800 rpms. I let her hear the super turbos on exhaustsoundclips and she said that she likes them. Knowing my luck I will buy them and get them put on and she will hate it and never want to ride around and I will never hear the end of it. Does anyone have the crossover rear y-pipe that supposedly gets rid of the drone? If so, does it work, and would you get it with the super turbos to possibly help out with the loudness?
