Default fuel pressure isolator through firewall question

Hi guys. I tried this over in forced induction, but didn't get any responses.

I know that this has been discussed in other posts (I did multiple searches) and to route wires through the firewall they say to use the hole behind the battery. Well, behind the battery there is the hole with 3 wires going through the firewall (black, green, etc) in a rubber grommet. Then there is the hole for hood latch. But I don't see any hole large enough to fit the steel braided line for the fuel pressure isolator through (let alone the hose for the boost gauge also).
I can drill a hole, but I am concerned about hitting something or drilling in the wrong location. If anybody has any pictures that would be tremondously helpful.

Question 2: Electrical wiring up the gauges. Which wires to I splice (colors if possible) into and where? Are any of the wires that connect to the mirror lights or map lights ones to splice into?

Oh, I drive a 94 corvette coupe, 6spd. Thanks again for all the help.

Okay, I see the wires now that go through the firewall right at the bottom of the door. One is a bunch of wires that are bundled in a black conduit. Do I drill just to the left (as I am looking at the wires and firewall) of that black conduit? Do you have any pics?

Oh and thanks for the help. And do you have any advise on question 2?

hi, what i did was i drilled a small hole enough to get a coat hanger through just drill till you pop a hole now with the coat hanger stick it in the hole so that you can feel around inside the car and you can pretty much tell if theres any thing in the way as far as the wires black is the ground for the light the red i tapped into my parking light switch mine is a 91 so i dont know if the colors are the same but anyway when i turn my lights on it will light one more thing you have to tap into a wire that is hot in run position if you don't the light will stay lite all the time mine was a pink with a stripe but make sure. hope this helps let me know

Thanks for all the help.

I just have one more question, sorry.

I need to extend my fuel pressure isolator line (doesn't quite reach, but it is really close). Can I just go buy stainless steel braided fuel lines and attach it to the fuel pressure isolator on the gauge side? I have the 6 ft of fuel line that came with the isolator, but it is just a tad too short.

If anyone can help with this question that would be great. It seems autometer is closed for the holiday weekend.

Thanks.

i bought the autometer 2 1/16 white face gauge with the 6ft braided line and i had enough line. the isolator is the small almost oval type it's not the one you mount to the firewall i ran it from the rail around my distrutor behind the ecm into the side of the door were i drilled the hole and i mounted the gauge right below the gauge cluster. the right side of the steering wheel on the panel with the carpet on it .

Unfortunetly, I believe that you have a 91 (right?). I don't think that mine will reach (I have the a pillar gauge cluster). There is no way that I have enough to make it. But, if I can just go out a buy more hose (at an autoparts store) than everything should be okay. I am just concerned because the instructions mention that it is liquid filled. I might just give summit racing a call and see if they know...

Thanks for the help.

do you have a local speedshop nearby you are going to have to get 1 male fitting and a 4ft hose i think the fitting you will need is a - 4 an. either an earls or russel fitting will do. i had my gauge mounted in a cup and i had 2 inchs of play it should work. were are you mounting it on your dash????

Not a competent one (local speedshop that is)...No, none of the performance oriented shops around here are a place where I would go to get an oil change or an oil filter for that matter. :D

I believe it is a -4an fitting, but I am going to take my gauge in and test fit some fittings until I find the right one.

I am mounting the gauge on my a-pillar. That was the easy part. Doesn't anything go as planned when working on cars. oh well. I should be able to get the braided stainless steel fuel lines and hook everything up today (after I get done with work).

Thanks again for all your help.

no problem one more thing i tryed to mount the gauge on my pillar and the pillar wouldn't sit flush because the braided line was to thick unless you plan on modifiying it. either way let me no how you made out.
