Gonna start using scanning software soon...quick Q

My car is up for the winter, so I won't be making any WOT runs.

I will be able to make some scans during idle though.

Should I let it get to operating temps first before scanning?
Will the extra cold air interfere with proper scanning?
Will scanning during idle tell me much useful information?
