Hey all....on my '91 vert, I have checked the adjustment of the cable before, but as I was out the other evening, I just had to tinker with it again..(last time, someone here told me the correct way to adjust it). Anyway, to make a long story short, the tranny hasn't worked right since I tinkered with it. I pressed in the square (near the throttle cable), and since that time it does not like to come out of first gear. Then it stays in every gear WAY too long, and doesn't like to go into overdrive at all. OK, I admit it...I seem to have screwed it up...(I remember the adjustment was very simple). Can someone jog my memory on the correct method of adjusting the cable? I think it is called the TV cable, TB cable, or something like that. I have searched the forum with no avail so far. Thanks all!!!
Simple explanation as given by EXPERT TRANS. guy. The more you move the TV cable towards passenger compartment the shift becomes tighter (mine was to the point shift to second threw you back in the seat) to much can cause numerous issues. since he reset mine by allowing it to come forward (opposite of my adjustment) everything is great!! :flag :flag
Sounds like you have pressed the TV cable in and havent set it yet. Try pushing the acelarator pedal to the floor with the engine off and that will probably fix your problem.
The way to adjust the TV cable is to push the button, pull the outer case toward the fire wall and release the button. Then get in the car and push the accelerator pedal to the floor. This should give the cable the proper base adjustment.
