Default Corsa Power-Pulse on LT4?

Just curious... Corsa lists the 92-96 Power Pulse exhaust as 2 1/2". Isn't the stock LT4 system 2 3/4"? Even with somewhat better flow charateristics and improved muffler design, wouldn't the 2 1/2" sizing off set a lot of the benefits?

I like the Corsa from all I've heard about it. Sweet tone without teeth jarring resonance, but I'd expect some increased performance for $900.; not just noise.

Corsas systems are straight thru. I was told by their engineers that their systems are rated to over 575HP. But I was disappointed that they didn't offer a 3" system so I went with a B&B 3" system. It does resonate a bit especially now that I have long tubes, 3" bullet cats, and a DR. Gas X pipe which eliminated the resonator. But it sure sounds mean :)

I'm thinking they went with 2.5 so as to prevent any chance of resonance.
I like my PE 2.75 inch cat back. Cost me $835 brand new for the L98 p/n.

Stock LT1/4 exhauast system is 2.5" ID, 2.75" OD, the Corsa is 2.5" ID, 2.75" OD. Both are the same except the stock system necks down to 2.25" OD in a couple of points, the Corsa is 2.75" OD all the way.

How do I know? I have my stock LT4 system standing on end in my garage, the Cosra's on my Vette.

I have corsa on my LT-4 with shorty headers and Random cats and it sounds great get on it and it will rap louder than side pipes keep your foot out of it and your good for crusing. Best of both worlds would buy it again in a heartbeat. I was on a cruise with a 66 big block with side pipes in front of me and when we both got on it he could hear my Corsa OVER his side pipes and he loved the way it sounded. So yeah you will get compients on this system.

I'd take a smooth-flowing 2-1/2" system over kinky 2-3/4" pipes any day.

Even if you believe fat pipes are better than smooth pipes, the stock 2-3/4" system necks down to about 2" at the mufflers, and a system can't flow any better than at its most restrictive point.

If you don't see any HP increases with the Corsa, it's probably becuase the stock system already flowed good enough, not becuase Corsa's 2-1/2" pipes are restrictive.

If you like the Corsa sound and looks, I'd say go for it and not worry too much about whether you get HP increases.

Enjoy :steering: :auto:
