I have always been a Corvette fan and always wanted a Corvette. I finally had the extra money to buy one. I just bought a 1990 Red 6-speed from a gentleman in North Carolina. I drove the car back to NH (and promptly put it in the heated garage for the winter :cry ). The car is amazing!
There is only one problem with the car, the tachometer does not work. It will go up when I start the car, up past 6000 rpms, then after I start moving it goes down to below 0 rpms. It will jump back and forth for a while, usually settling below 0 rpms. It seems as though it is a loose wire, but since this is my first Corvette, I have no idea where to look for the connection. Does anyone have any ideas on this one? Do I need a whole new instrument panel? Thanks for any help.
 Welcome and congrats on your purchase. Your car sounds nice. Something tells me it will not be in that garage for very long!! Sorry I cant help w/ the tach problem but I'm sure someone here on this wonderful forum will. Good luck, Guy
Welcome to the forum....Nice choice on your first..and it made it from NC so you're good to go.
As far as your tach issue, you might want to get a helm's manual and go from there..
I dont believe the 90's and up had the dash issues the earlier C4's had. Thats good news
as I dont think you'll need a new dash. You'll need to find out how the tach is getting it's
info and go from there. I'm sure others will chime in here.. Good Luck!
I'd like to welcome you to the world of Corvette Owners and also to the Corvette Forum. Get your manuals first. I've got three, be surprised what one doesn't show another one will. The Helm's the best, but don't short the cheaper one's. I've got all mine off Ebay at great prices. Paid $21.65 for an almost perfect Helm's. Check it out. My greatest help has been the Forum, the people on it has helped me on several problems, plus I read almost every posting each day. Never know when you might have that problem. Check out the Tech Tips under Tools and also the reviews.....Great Info.
HAVE A GREAT DAY!!! :flag
