Default IAC Servicing

The car has developed a roughness on idle. Interestingly, this seems to go away if I reprogram the Hypertech program back to stock. It also went away for a while after spraying some throttle body cleaner into the bores and idle inlet.

I was thinking about inspecting/cleaning the IAC but, like most else on this car, access is a bit awkward. The IAC is held on by 2 torx screws--the upper one is not too difficult to get to but the lower one requires using a socket wrench with appropriate extenders to clear interferences. Therefore, I have not actually tried removing the IAC but wanted to know from anyone what to expect upon removal. I'm not sure whether or not there will be a gasket, but rather I expect there is an O-ring (based on my model year). But should I expect any other surprises or is removing/installing the IAC a no-brainer?

Thanks.

I think your year has the o-ring. No big deal to remove and clean with throttlebody cleaner.
Do not apply power when removed to see if it's working as the pintle will eject itself.
Be sure the distance from motor base to pintel end is less than 1 1/8" before installing.
This operation is best done with TB removed so you can clean everything and replace gaskets.

i'm not sure about '95 cars... but my '93 LT1 IAC is threaded and screws into the TB and it has a gasket. The TPS on the other hand has two torx screws holding it on...

I was also (hopefully) planning on removing and inspecting the IAC while the TB was still on the car. The only thing that is obviously tricky is getting to the bottom screw but I was just wondering about the non-obvious.

I don't know how different your LT1 is from my L98, but removing the TB is literally just a 10-15 min job, I did mine this weekend, most of the time you can even re-use the gasket, makes the job a lot easier
