Found a cool bin library and found my desired stock bin too. If you need a stock virginal bin they are here; [URL][http://www.gmpcm.com/main.htm/URL]
This is the GMPCM website. The bins on file are supposed to be original unmodified and verified. Most even have a link to the part number and price at GMpartsdirect.com for ordering a new one!
Never trust what you download from the internet as "VIRGIN" bin files. I can attest that I have had bad experiences from so called virgin bins. One thing about that GMPCM website. I tried their editor program. And while it does seem to work I have a lot of concerns about their editor. I am a veteran Tuner Cat user and I know that TC works and works well. When I opened a $8D ecm file which is a 730 ECM (quite common and hacked well) and compared the GMPCM programs displayed values and compared it with Tuner Cat that had the identical bin file open.
I found that none of the table entries matched, and I mean nothing. Something is very wrong with how that GMPCM editor is interpeting the bin file. For instance when I open the VE table or spark table nothing between what is shown in the two programs are the same. So in my opinion until they get that worked out I wouldn't use their program.
Tom, Then how do you get a virin bin file for programming? Someone sent me a stock 93 automatic bin from the forum.. it looks fine.. but I owuldnt no the difference if it was modifiyed or otherwise.. is there a way to read the information off of out stock proms?
Yes you can read the stock BIN from the prom. Just use a midified 32 pin header, cutoff 2 pairs of pins to make 28 pins, plug it into the bottom of the end of the memcal where the prom resides. Set your PP2 for the correct prom, I beleive its a 27C256 and using the PP2 software click on move file or something like that its a couple button down from the top below "program device". Then save the file as what ever name you want to give it. Then you can open it up in TC.
To see what I mean about using a header, go the the thirdgen.org DIY Prom site to see the 32 pin header that you can get from Digi-key.
TC does not yet support the 96 and up OBD2 cars. However it will soon be released in the next couple months. You only other option at this time will be LT1 Edit and that can be purchased here: http://www.carputing.com
