Happy New Year :seeya
What has to stay and what has to go ?
I remember something about putting a resistor in to fool ECM.
Any pics would be great
Thanks

You are better off having a custom prom burned to mask the EGR error code. Just installing a resistor won't work. If I remember right your car uses the EGR temp switch, which the ECM looks for a change of state when the EGR is commanded on. So a simple resistor installation won't work. The other control scenario is that the ECM looks for a change in MAP pressure when the ECM is commanded on.
There was a post a few weeks ago. Someone plugged a relay into the egr harness, so at the time the temp switch told the egr to switch the relay went to ground. The computor thinks the egr is working. They even had a drawing in the post and a much better explanation than mine. Try a search? :chevy

Yeah that was it. A relay not a resistor :smash:
I'll search some more :D
Thanks

Can't find it.
Memory has me thinking there was a relay and a resistor  :smash:
Anyone remember

I have removed everything that has to do with all the smog crap....and I DO NOT throw any codes.....If you want to remove all the smog stuff....do it and worry about the code after you know it's going to throw one....if it does, than tackle that little issue then....Some people throw one and some don't ...so try it for yourself and see......
Theres something im trying now...car isnt running yet but will be soon...few more things left to do..I removed the EGR feed tube and blocked that off at the intake and got the exhaust manifold welded closed. The egr temp switch, Im installing on the intake manifold...im leaving the egr in place, vacuum lines and all and the solenoid hooked up...so hopefully for now,it will still work but just wont be circulating exhaust gasses so it wont throw a code of 32.
We shall see if it all works...may be a few days.Until then, I eventually get a custom prom, only then and im going go eliminate the needless garbage on the engine area.
Of course this is for "off road" use only ya know??
Mine will very, very rarely throw a code. It happens at highway speed slightly backing off gas, then resuming gas...
I think it has happened three times this year.
Might have been one of my posts. I put a relay in my 85. The output from the computer that drives the EGR solenoid is hooked up to a 12 v relay. The normally open contacts switch the EGR sensor output to ground when the relay is energized. This simulates a properly operating EGR system.
No need for a diagram this is pretty simple. Wires that were on the solenoid go to the relay coil. The EGR sensor wire goes to a N.O. contact and a frame ground goes to the other side of the N.O.
