Any ideas on how to make my 14 year old intake plenum look new again? I just got done with rebuilding the engine. While I was there I put a new intake and runners on, painted the valve covers, etc. It all looks pretty good with the exception of the plenum. I'm not interested in polishing it, I want it to look stock. Thanks
Re: how to remove oxidation from plenum (FullShred)
I taped it up and sandblasted mine.It looked pretty good that way i thought. But i made the mistake of clearcoating over top of it to keep it clean. It didn't peel or anything just has a yellow tint to it. Just make sure to wash it it really good just in case anything got in there. If you decide to go that route.
I first cleaned it with arb cleaner thoroughly. Then I sand blasted it and later primed and painted it with the silver color used for the valve covers offered from ZIP. the plenum and runners look great with the same color as the valve covers. I was very happy with the results. Good luck

Actually, the bets result Ive found so far was having the machine shop boil the plenum in their hot tank or steam tank?I forget what they called it.It came out looking brand new and you could eat off it.
It will oxidize again later after some time down the road but for the most part, without painting or anything, was a great way to make it look new again.
