Default 92 LT1 rebuild

I just pulled a 92 lt1 engine to correct engine leaks and a head gasket leak. I am debating have the engine bored to 355. With there be noticeable hosepower gains? Additionally, is there anyone running speed pro piston? What is a good price per performance piston? Can I use my existing rods for this build?

Thanks in advance

Have the rods checked at a machine shop, if they are good, then yes you can reuse them. Yes, a 355 will offer performance gains, especially if your motor has many miles on it. It's worth probably 5hp on a brand new 0-mile LT1, or more if your pistons are worn. Speed-Pro are about the best for the price for forged pistons, but not the best out there. I'm using them for my engine build, but I haven't run it yet so.... But whatever you do, but forged pistons. If the motor is already out, go ahead and do it, rebuild it to a 355 or maybe a 383/396 :D

Can any of you recommend a good middle of the road forged piston? My goal for this motor build is flowed heads done by CNC cylinder heads, new cam, corsa exhaust, and long tube headers. As for the lower end, I want to freshen it up with new pistons and rings. With this setup, what can I expect for RWHP?

Thanks

Depends on head work, choice of cams, and compression ratio. Should find yourself in the 400 fwhp though. How far depends on your budget.

SRP/JE are a great middle of the road piston. While Sealed Power maybe cheaper they are also a LOT heavier. Lunati also makes a very good 2618 alloy piston if you want to go with some spray in the future.

Pete at CNC heads, TEA Or Total Engine Air Flow, and Advanced Induction. Any one of these guys would do a great job on your heads. And if $$$ was unlimited you can go for some AFR LT4 heads.

A easy way for a good improvement is the GM LT4 conversion kit that gives you the heads, LT4 Hot cam, intake and roller rockers. One of our fellow members here is running Petes heads with a pretty mild cam with Roller rockers and he is getting around 355 RWHP or there abouts. And he also has shorty headers and a flowmaster cat back system. With Long tubes and a Corsa you could expect a bit more from your combo.
