Anyone running Datamaster and Tunercat under WiN XP or 2000?
Ordered my AKM cable today, but then realized that one of my laptops has Windows XP Home and the other runs Windows 2000.
I hope TTS Power System's Datamaster and also Tunercat will each run on either of my laptops. Concerned now because TTS's site states it needs Win95, Win98, or NT4. Granted XP and 2000 are evolved from NT4, but will it run still? I emailed both TTS and Tunercat, awaiting responses :skep:

You should not have any issues running either software package on your XP laptop. The big thing is a standard 9 pin serial port, a lot of laptops are now coming without this precious port which makes tuning a nightmare. Dell as far as I know is still producing laptops with a 9 pin port. At least I hope so. I got two or three laying around plus my current Dell, all with 9 Pins :)

My XP machine is an HP 4125, has one 9-pin serial/rs232 port :) I read on AKM's site that there is a workaround involving a USB-to-RS232 adapter for laptops without the 9 pin male rs232 serial port.

I'm using Datamaster and Tunercat on Windows XP, works great, no problems. You may also want ot look into using VE Master's software for you're part-throttle tuning.

The main thing I want to do first is use Datamaster to look at my sensor readings and record some data logs to see what my BLM's are and try to figure out why she seems to be running slightly rich especially the passenger side bank of cyls (2,4,6,8). Plugs on that side show more black powdery carbon than plugs on driver side. If my sensors show within spec (where can I find a reference for acceptable sensor specs and what is out of spec?) then I'll need to look at possible mechanical cause(s) but the car is low mile so hoping its just the passenger side O2 sensor being flakey, etc.
Then once I get that mystery solved I want to use Tunercat to bump up shift firmness for my 4L60E... that will require some help to see a pressure table of someone with B&M or Hypertech shift firmness programmed in to give me a starting point and understanding of how the table works.
I'll do a search for VE Master, never heard of it but that is nothing because I'm a complete n00b at this.

yea.. VEmaster is the terrific! the longer the datarun you can log the more accurate the adjustments will be.. (of course the law of diminishing returns applys here). :D
