curtis - that idle speed sounds extream... my 383 LT1 with an Auto (and the attached bullpoopie torque converter) idles great at 750rpm in drive, with the AC running with similar Compression ratio and cam as what your running (but alas..more cubic inches..) 900rpm seems high.. I still think you have a vaccum leak someplace.. lets talk about your IAC counts and throttle blade position.. did youg et that squared away..
Sounds extreme? I know quite a few guys that idle 850-950. I've been told by Chris K. at Speed Demon MS that the HOT cam should be 850 at a minimum... With my 383 and HOT cam i had to have it around 750 though because with a stock torque converter and all that torque the car tried to take off on it's own (WITH my foot on the brake!) if idle was much higher. Something about having more torque at idle than the stock LT1 does peak :D hahahah
I've tried finding the vacuumleak but can't find anything yet. I have more checking to do yet.
I have IAC counts figure out... at idle with no a/c it's down to 25... with a/c at idle it's around 70-90. SO... that's much better. I had to screw open the blades quite a bit. Didn't remember having to do it that much to my 383, which is why i thought it was a little odd.
Ok, my vaccum seems to be doing better. I set the idle back down to 850 and i've got about 55-58kPa. Not too bad for a cammed car... i'm still wondering if there isn't a cracked vaccum hose somewhere. I replaced the vaccum hoses on the opti, so they are good.... as for the rest, i'm not sure.
check to make sure your EGR is sticking open, also make sure your PVC is functioning.. check the little vaccum hoses that go to the maniolf on the driver side (routes to the AIR flap door under the ASR) as well as the vaccum lines on the passenger side manifold (look at the little vaccum pot there... it is notorious for getting a hole on the side facing the manifold.. you physically have to pull it off the manifold to look at the other side.. otherwise you might miss it..

No EGR on LT4 ;) ... The PCV valve was loose when i shook it, so it should be good. I'll doublecheck the hose though as well as those others... thanks!
I have found the rubber 90 degree bend near where the alternator and the A/C mount to the mainifold for the PVC tends to get ate away I found where mind had a hole in it .. just a thought.
