84 coolant temperature reading low ?

Default 84 coolant temperature reading low ?

why is my coolant temp reading low when i know it has to be reading something ?? is it a sensor in the cluster or is it a sensor in the engine ?? where are these sensors located if so ? please help im going crazy

The sensor for my digital gauge (1986) is in the passenger side head between #6 and #8 cylinders.

I don't know for sure where the 84's is located, but check that location first to see if it has become disconnected.

GM moved the sensor around to different locations in different year cars.

Shame on you, oldace84. You should realize that the location, Jake described for his '86, is where our 1984 (and 1985) fan switch is located. The temperature guage sending unit is in the corresponding hole on the other side of the engine. because the heads are the same, left and right, that puts the sender between the #1 and #3 spark plugs. It goes without saying, that Jake IS correct for the '86. Good luck, all, and...
