Default Fuel rail help

Are these bolts holding this thing down welded on? I have just stripped one bolt and broken one 10mm socket. I think i need to get a supply of those. Everything is a 10mm. So I have sprayed some wd40 on the bolts, maybe after some time they will loosen up. Anyone have any clue what to do with stripped one. This is a new prob for me. I need the rails up to put in new injectors.

Try some BP Blaster. It works a hell of a lot better than WD40 for breaking loose bolts. Also make sure you are using a 6pt. socket

Sounds like some idiot before you torqued the hell out of those. They shouldn't be that tight :mad

Mine came right off. But even after they are up (I believe there are 4) make sure you also loosen then two fuel line nuts at the front, and the line at the rear. After that, the rail still won't pull right up. Remember, it's been there awhile. The injectors themselves provide for some resistence. Once I was certain everything was loose, I wrapped a breaker bar in a thick rag, and I used it to pry the fuel rail up out of the intake.

If it's the nuts themselves, I'm not sure what to say. I can't imagine they are that hard to get off. If you strip them, you can drill them out. But then you risk damaging the rail itself. So I'd go gently.

You may be able to tap it to the next size, be it metric or standard. Worse case= heli-coil :smash:
Good luck with them :blueangel:

Wow. The only thing I can imagine is that you've been bitten by the dissimilar metals between the aluminum intake and the bolt. Those 4 bolts aren't torqued very hard at all!

thats exactly what it is, steel bolt into aluminum intake will lock up like its welded, drill it out and use never seize when replacing it and all others

The aluminum threads should rip out before that happens though.
