Default flameball time

i'm getting one of those flameball shifters and want it to light up when i have the headlights on. like when the dash and instrument lights come on. for those of you who have one, where did you get the power source from? did u use the illumination wire from the radio? any help would be greatly appreciated.

Default flameball time

I saw a flameball shifter that was lit, and thought it was pretty neat. I wouldn't do it to my car, but it is cool looking.

I have one on my '32 coupe and it's great looking at night. Go for it. Certainly no worse than some of the fiberglass body "improvments" I see on some vettes. I went with a bright white LED instead of the 12 volt grain of wheat bulb he sends with the ball.

I finally got up nerve enough to find myself the +12V ignition on that the Heated (3-wire) O2 guys were talking about. On the driver's side of the radiator shroud there are two relays for the fans. One of those wires will be hot with the ignition on. It'll probably power your little light but add a fuse (5 amp? fast blow from radio shack) to protect the car's electrics.

There are plenty of switched 12V sources in the dash... no need to go all the way into the engine bay.

so the little plug under the console cover is the power you used to light it? it was my impression that that was a constant power source and not just when the lights were on. how did you do it so it came on with the headlights? thanks for all the help man

You should have a auxillary power plug in the center console for a cell phone to be hard wired.
