Default More power with the new setup?

As of now I have done the following mods to my car MSD superconductor 8mm wires, chambered exhaust, superram base intake, and am now installing the superram upper plenum and runners. I will also be getting some hooker 2149's by the end of the month.

Originally I also wanted to the SR 219 cam but decided to wait until next winter.

But the question since I dont have access to a dyno how much power do you guys think my current setup with the LT headers is going to make?

585.4, +or- .05. Maybe 587.2, if you have the insides of those 2149's coated.

I wish that you could have dynoed your car before you did these mods to put this issue to rest. The issue being SuperRam intake on an otherwise stock L98.

When I did this on my car, I was unimpressed with the gains on a stock head/cam car, in both SOTP and track times. I didn't have the dyno numbers to back it up though.

The biggest difference in my opinion was the headers. It really woke the car up. I am running the long-tube TPIS, so I'm not sure how much you'll see with the Hooker's.

Anyway, I'll take a stab and say that with a full SR and Hooker's, you'll see about 25chp and maybe 40 foot lbs at the crank. Those numbers would be a lot different if you did some work on your heads and cam.

If I could I would use the search! But since I cant I will ask you guys.

The question is how difficult is a 219 cam install and what are the needed parts when doing the cam install. I have some idea but want to make sure.

Yeah, I agree.

With the stock whimp cam and no head work, your engine doesn't need all that air. I think you're going to be unimpressed as well. Throw in a good cam and some headwork...then we're talkin'!

I don't know if this helps or not but I picked up .2 and 2mph in the 1/4 when I put my SuperRam based, plenum and runners on my stock heads/cam L98. I did however have LT headers.

I did not respond earlier casue I did not really see any power adders, you now have better components for sure and when you get a good cam it should come together

Thanks for the feedback Chuck. I also had headers on mine and didn't even pick up the 2 tenths that you did.

To me, 2 tenths in the quarter isn't worth $1200 for the SR if you had a stock motor. If the ultimate goal was ETs, $1200 could almost buy you a set of AFS wheels and DRs which would net more than the SR on a stock heads/cam motor.

I picked up 3-4mph and dropped 6 tenths+ in the quarter with the full superram, Airpump Elim kit, 52mm TB and LPE 1 5/8" Longtubes.
And I put the '+' in there, as I only ran one time at the track with the superram and headers before getting the new heads on.

With the stock heads I went from a previous 13.7-13.8@99mph average to a
13.3@103mph on one run (horrible 60foot of 2.1 spinning), and on my best run I blew my MAF 3/4 down the dragstrip. I got a 1.81 60foot and with the 330foot,1/8m and mph data calculated a VERY low 13 to a VERY high 12. SO that would have been about 7-8 tenths drop.

Seat of the pants though, after I installed the superram upper and lower, the car breathed liek it should at higher rpms and highway speeds. Once I added the headers, it REALLY woke the car up.

You have lot better heads than I did, so I don't see why you shouldn't be able to drop 5-6 tenths easily with good traction off the line with the setup you are doing.

You can find a SR for less than $1200. I found mine for $850. My Drag radials and rims didn't come close to costing $1200. It was more like $450.

At any rate. The SR won't be on a stock motor for too long, and I agree $1200 for .2 would be tough to justify.

:iagree:

How did you get DRs and rims for $450? Do tell.

That SR is going to do wonders on your car when you get deeper into the engine.
