My 86 has headers that flow into a single cat, should I just remove it and install a pipe in its place? Just curious to see what you guys thought. If I had dual cats I wouldn't worry about it, but with a single cat I thought it might restrict flow. We don't have to pass emissions here anymore so that isn't an issue. Thanks for your help.
Toss the cat and the air pump :smash:
I don't think it's that restrictive till they start plugging up
I pulled the pump on my 86, and when I'm finished under the hood I'm going to pull the cat.
Once removed, I'll cut the flange off it and weld a length of pipe on it.
Once on the road, I'll drive it to the muffler shop and let the pro's cut and replace my precats with pipe.
Heck, If i'm feelling energetic I'll pull the Y out and do it my self :smash:
It sure would be nice to have a lift :blueangel:
I think you'd get a pretty nice gain, by ditching the cat and putting a pipe in its place. My 1/4 mile times improved by about .15 after hollowing the main cat. :yesnod:
