Fuel Injector Seals
I read that only gasoline, not oil, should be used to lube injector seals when installing (also never use silicone lube) on the rail. Can anyone chime in to confirm/deny this claim? Oil would be easier...but I always use gasoline.

Re: Fuel Injector Seals (GRX)
Oil and gas are both petroleum based
Silicon doesn't attack rubber
:lurk:

I was told to use oil and have without any problems.
Oil is certainly a better lubricant than gas.

I have read in some shop manuals (not GM) to use gasoline...I'd rather use oil.

Re: Fuel Injector Seals (GRX)
Gasoline - Yikes! - Can't say I've ever seen that recommended in any service manual, though GM recommends transmission fluid to lube TBI injector seals. I also suppose a drop or two of gasoline that might drip onto the manifold would evaporate long before it caused a problem, but the idea is to lubricate the O-ring so it isn't damaged during installation and use. So if gasoline does the job, so does water or spit (which probably have a slower rate of evaporation). Stick with oil.

If I run out of spit I also use dielectric grease. It seems to let the injectors come out easier next time . I got the ok from Gordon Killbrew!
