Default TPI info

I have to replace the intake manifold gaskets on my 86, it has 17,100 miles on it.
Should I also replace the injectors & what injectors should I use. I was also thinking of replacing the spark plug wires with Accel wires & the thermostat with the Hypertech 160
powerstat will this be ok. or do I also need to go with the Hypertech thermo master chip.
any other suggestions on any other parts that should be replaced at this time would be
appreciated

IMO injectors are too expensive to just change. Not broke don't fix. TPIS plug wires are my favorite wire ( look stock and holds up) Just my $.02

Injectors are best from ford, look on e-bay forgot the name but 22# ones would be good there pink, accell injectors are junk, 160 t-state should be good without the chip( i go with the 180 b/c colder climate in my area ) plug wires are plug wires to me, but the good ones are msd's or the tpis ones. I'd buy the tpis perf. handbook for the free mods to do to your car, worth the $ and it sows you how to port your intake and lots of other things.

I disagree, After 171k those injectors at least need to be cleaned. I agree that they don't necessarily need to be replaced, but you would have to go almost as far into the engine if one were to malfunction. Clean those bad boys while you are in there!!! BTW, I like the red Taylor wires.

Have the injectors cleaned and flowed. They will tell ya if you need them replaced or not. Did mine 2 years ago, with 110000kms (70000m) and were just like new.

It is 17k not 117k. the local dealer said that while they have the top end apart they should
replace the injectors, but I'm starting to think they are giving me a snow job. I think I will
look for a good local vette type shop & get a second opinion.

The stealer will probably charge$500 plus to change injectors(parts only). It is a 2 or 3 hour job to change after the fact. I also think cleaning might be a good thing to do but if it were my car I would wipe with a rag, change o-rings and hope for the best . Again just my $.02. Hate to see hard earned money go to Mr. Badwrench.

There is a Vette shop on RT 206 called Corvette Paramedics. They seem to know their stuff, and they have lots of new parts too. They do everything, even blowers. Check them out if ya look for a shop. They are on RT 206 between Columbus and Pemberton.

If you get the 160 degree stat, then you need to get a manual fan switch, or a hypertech thermo master chip too. The stat won't do much after the car has been running for a while except open all the way up. Your engine is not going to cool off to anywhere near 160 degrees without the fan coming on. My Vette has a 180 stat, and it still runs at about 220F when warmed up. I don't have a chip, or a fan switch.
Good Luck.
