Here're two site links of some dimensions anf flow for TPI parts. Thought it might be of interest.

So, if all these numbers are correct,,, it is proven that the air foil does in fact work, and it does increase air flow :crazy:

Made two observations;
1. If you have a TPI MAF sensor (Stock TPI Bosch MAF sensor w/o screens -- 658.4 cfm) is there no need to ever use (NA application) a larger Throttle Body (48mm tpi = 783.0 cfm),?
2. Whole lot of flow #'s for various intakes and the stealth but 0, zip, zilch "I ran x.xx and dynoed xxx before the stealthram and improved to x.xx and xxx after installing it.

I see you all like the flow tests I did years ago. However, as good as flow benches are, they are not perfect and should only be used as a reference. An engine does not suck/flow air like a flow bench. A flow bench sucks/flows air at a constant rate whereas an engine takes "gulps" of air per each valve open/close event. So just bacause the flow bench says that a 48mm throttle body is capable of flowing more than your engine could ever hope to flow doesn't mean that your engine would not benefit from a larger throttle body.

For example, in my personal experience, a stock TPI intake seems to benefit from a 52mm throttle body whereas a stock LT1 did not respond at all to the bigger TB. Of course, every engine/application is different and many other factors contribute to how your engine is going to respond to a particular "upgrade". By far, the best way of determining whether or not a certain upgrade or mod will benefit your particular application is either by trail or error, or relying on third party dyno testing using a similar engine. Keep in mind that these aftermarket companies are in the business of making money and upselling parts. One way they do this is by making their products more appealing by manipulating statistics or variables in the tests they perform; therefore, giving you the illusion that their product will give you XX horsepower gain over stock. This, more often than not, is not the case. After all, would you spend $500 on a part that would only provide you with a 5hp gain?

Wow thats good stuff. I wish the ASM/TPIS runners had been tested. Those extruded Accel runners are looking awfully good. I might be dumping my ASM runners. :eek:

AH! But there is a modified top available that will allow it to fit without hood modifications.

I'll post the link to the site if you guys offer to buy one for me.

Jake

Me too, but don't be so quick to dump the ASMs. Having owned both, the Accel runners would definitely benefit from being extrude honed to smooth out those rough interior castings. The interior of the ASM pieces are already smooth as a baby's bottom.

Unless the process also makes them larger, and I don't think it does, I still don't think the extruded Accels have a larger runner diameter or would out flow the ASM/TPIS runners.

Great post, good to see independent verification of claims made by companies looking to sell things, and in this case being right on the money.
