I lost many nights of sleep wondering about this very same thing. So I put my camcorder inside the frig. and now have actual proof that the light does go out when the door is closed. I am selling copies of this tape for $5 each if interested. I now sleep like a baby.

The rotor will be facing whatever terminal it was pointing at when you turned the car off. If you have #1 cylider at TDC then you have problems. Engines don't fire off #1 cylinder to start.
