Does the antenna motor run the whole time? If so, sounds like you're missing teeth off of the antenna ribbon - time to get a replacement mast from MAD (or wherever you can find one). :)

I couldnt tell your were it is on your car. On my coupe it's under trim, beside hatch latch.
I mentioned this because my bose stereo acted the same way. I cleaned the contacts and have never had a problem since.
Someone with a G.M. manual for your year and model should be able to answer the location.

Well I broke out the manuals for the second time since I bought the vette and now I can look for it on the weekend. The cargo compartment, above rear of wheelhouse. I'd like to thank you for the hints, as I'm a new member to the forum but it has been invaluable to me as a source of information and advice. I had been reading this site for at least 14 months but I just enjoy driving the vette that I didn't much care if the stupid antennae went down or not, iI always let it decide (no choice)! They are a real blast to drive!
