I'd like to take it off & clean it, but worried some parts (the valve mainly)may be damaged by the type of cleaner used. Also, did you clean out the port into the manifold? TIA, :seeya
how did you clean your egr outa your engine compartment. You mean you took it off your engine?. This one went over my head. When I cleaned the plenum, I took mine off and hosed it out with throttle body cleaner, made sure the diaphram wasnt torn and put it back..... :hurray:
Oh i see. The problem with doing that in cali is when you smog the car the Nox is too high. You need that extra little exhaust to bring it town. what i do is cut the head off a 1/8 inch bolt and place the bolt between the egr solenoid and the Egr vaccum diaphrams. When the solenoid opens the vaccum, it just sucks on the bolt. It looks pretty good too, you cant tell the rod is in the vaccum hose line. When its time to smog, just cut a piece of ball point pen tube and place where the rod is. Please dont tell the smog police. By the way, you have to retrofit the hose to the diaphram with a longer hose. It makes it easier to unplug and cap. Or you can cap at the throttle body as long as that diaphram doesnt open. I live dangerously dont I? :hurray:
i was getting the EGR code at highway speeds. during an engine rebuild, i just flexed the valve a few times...since then i haven't had a problem...(with the EGR, anyway)
