Everything I have read online including various online catalogs lists the Accel 150124 injector as being the one for a 89 TPI motor. Just bought a set and they are too short. Anyone have a clue why?? (Other than the obvious, i bought the wrong ones apparantly)
I don't know the specifics here, but most aftermarket injectors don't fit exactly the same. Have you tried installing them? They might still work, they just won't protrude so much.
I have the accel 24# that I bought from Jeg's. They fit my 85 no problem, with 1 year and 3K on them so far and no problems. :seeya Try to put them on, they may fit .
Did you guys use the locks that came on the stock injectors to lock them into the fuel rail?? When I did that it seems too short and when I put them in without the lock I was afraid of it moving around and leaking. Guess this needs a second look. Thanx everyone !!
I have the 24s Accel in my 1990 as well. I have new locks too as the old ones were britttle, they seal top and bottom with the orings. The lock into the fuel rail. Yes they are a little shorter work well for me. Despite several on the forum swearing they have had problems with them. 3 years and no problems with them. :flag

:yesnod: Make sure you do too !! I've had mine several years nows and they are fine. I know its a little disturbing that they are shorter, but once locked in the rail the depth in the manifold is ok.

Re: Accel injectors ?? (LSC SS)
You should use the locks to make sure they're seated in the fuel rail.
If you could choose between a slight vacuum leak, and a slight fuel leak, which would you choose? Actually, I think when the locks are used, it doesn't let the injector bottom out all the way up in the fuel rail, so it'll help your cause.
I just installed a set of LT-1 injectors in my '87 and I had the same worry. The LT-1's are a lot shorter than the stock L98, but so far so good.
Now if I could get the cold start injector tube to quit leaking behind the drivers side fuel rail.............. :mad
I just called the local chevy dealer and they tell me the lock tabs are $9 each, seems a little high to me !! A part # would be great, maybe I can search around for a better price.

how much is a set of injectors and is it ok to go to 30# injectors? My injectors are stock and I am rebuilding the engine. They had 127,000 miles on them, so should I get new ones and what injectors are suggested?
Went to the dealer today and he's telling me thats the wrong part #, thats exactly what came out of the car but his computer parts listing shows part # 17111800 as the one for the 89 http://198.208.187.182/servlet/com.e...rtnbr=17111800
I have an 85, and I don't think those would fit. They aren't even close to the same shape as my locks. Weren't your stock locks semi-circular? I don't see how those would work. I used my old locks with no problems. :seeya
Went back to GM and got the right ones today, the guy still agrued with me that the original part he sold me was right and these here are wrong, go figure !!
I want to thank everyone for their patience and help !!
