Default Code 36 at 70 MPH

Replaced the MAF sensor and the burn off relay. Still getting code 36 after operating vehicle for ten minutes at 65-70 MPH highway. No ill performance effect. Anybody?

Hmmm, that's strange code 36 is MAF Burn-Off problem.

Pull the relays & MAF sensor plug and clean all contacts; then assure that all plugs are firmly inserted into the sockets.

Thanks 65Z01.

Your note implies more than one relay. Besides the MAF sensor, I replaced the burn-off relay on the firewall near to the brake master cylinder. Is the another one that I missed?

There is a MAF Power Relay and a MAF Burn-Off Relay; both are behind the battery on the firewall.

Thanks for both replies / suggestions 65Z01. Will clean connections 1st followed by 2nd relay installation, if necessary.

Appreciate the assistance. :seeya

I had an issue with this too. I swapped the 2 relays with each other and got a different code. I replace the bad one. Seems these are interchangeable on my '86.

My thoughts exactly. I still have the old relay to swap around. I can change out the new relay for other one to see if that corrects the problem. If I get another code, I'll know which relay is bad and hopefully correct the problem.

With 65Z01's advice maybe I can put this issue to rest. Thanks.
