AFR Heads
I would also be doing the cam with it. Thanks guys.
If you do the work yourself, budget an additional 10-20% for the hidden costs above and beyond the component purchases.
I will not be doing the work myself so down time on my daily driver is important. Re-working my stock heads will take more time then purchasing heads and bolting them on (I guess).

- The normal LT-1 castings you're looking at
- Competition ported LT-1 heads
Based on the info I've gathered, the normal castings will not give you the air flow you're looking for where the competition ported heads will. The competition ported heads go for around $2,500.00.
When I found this out, I decided to just have my existing LT-1 heads ported. I think that they (my CNC ported stock heads) will outflow the "normal" AFR LT-1 heads (although I haven't proved it by flow benching my heads vs. the normal AFR LT-1 heads).
Take it for what it's worth as it's just my opinion based on my own research into the subject.
You'll also want to do your homework when it comes to cam selection. It may be in your best interest to try and find a package deal where the cam is matched to the heads. This will give you the most bang for your buck and will lead to less headaches after the swap.
Good luck! :)

These just might be the ticket for you

As always, be careful about advertised flow numbers - TPiS has it in their best interest to advertise their heads flowing just as good if not better than AFR competition heads.
