Since I live in The Netherlands it is not easy to get the right parts. I'm looking for the 1310 non greaseable HD Spicer u-joints for my driveshaft. At http://www.spicerdriveshaft.com/card...dan-light.html they show 2 kinds of joints and I think I need the Spicer Life ones. I have contacted the importer in my country but I need a Spicer part number, can you help me out?
I will contact my supplier on Monday, May 10 to see if I can get the information for you. I understand you are looking for driveshaft univeral joints (spicer) for a Corvette. Please verify they are for an 87 model year.
Thanks for the info! Yes it is for a 1987 with an automatic transmission. I'am looking for the heavy duty ones, the ones without the grease nipple.
The numbers they gave me in Holland are: 18100 for the normal ones with the grease nipple, 1320043 for the so called HD ones with an extra thrust washer on which they say it also has a grease nipple. It seems to me that the part numbers I mentioned are not Spicer part numbers. I have also read about coated ones for use in aluminium driveshafts.
The series "1310" is just a basic size. There are many Spicer part numbers in the "1310" series for different applications. There is a 1310 "wheel joint that is very common in US built 4X4 front axle shafts, for instance. You definitely do want the coated for use in aluminum shafts, u joints. Unfortunately, I don't have a current catalog. The original part number for the stock replacement joint was, "5-467X". That was the coated, with no zerk, OE joint. I understand that number has been superceded. You will be getting current part numbers posted., here, soon. Good luck, and...
