Fuel pump problems?
I know my motor's probably wanting a rebuild, or a new motor all together, but I'd like to put that off for a couple more years till I'm a civilian and have some more disposable income.
My fuel filter and injectors are nearly new. I'm wondering if the pump could be an issue. It's never been replaced. The car seems to have more power issues up top than down low and I can hear a little cutting out at the top of second gear before it shifts.
What's a good way to test if the pumps dying? I haven't hooked up a pressure meter while it's under load yet.
Thanks
Chris
The accelerate the car to the rpm/load range where the problem occurs and watch the pressure reading.
There is a "no-load" test involving pumping 1/2 pint of gas in 15 seconds or less, but the gauge procedure is much better.
