For 95 LT1 (84,000 miles)- Purchased some New 28# injectors last winter as a couple stock injectors were not working well. Recently, installed injectors with Aeromotive AFPR. Set AFPR at 45psi. Strong gas smell with lots of black smoke from exhaust. Also, will not start 3-4 times in a row. Too Rich! Had plans for future engine mods but now realize they are at least 2-3 years away. So, want to sell injectors (anyone?) and replace with Ford Motosport 24# injectors. I read archived posts and looks like I should buy the flow-matched SVO 24# (blue-top). http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...category=33554
What should I set AFPR at with Ford injectors? Any other thoughts.
Also, threw out my clips as they didn't fit on 28# injectors. Dumb-as a couple leaked gas everywhere! Must find new clips. Any problems with clips fitting on SVO 24# ?
Have a HyperTech PowerProgrammer III - can these be used at all to help with tuning of the injectors/AFPR?
Try lowering your fuel pressure before you give up on them.
Sounds like your leak is due to O rings unless these injectors are really short.
Good Luck
Programmer will not help custom tune your injectors. It does bring your cooling fans in sooner, which is good, it does adjust your speedometer if you change your rear gear, which is good, and if you select it, will reprogram your engine parameters for better performance, which as hearing from others is not good. They say their times at the track actually got worse by selecting the performance upgrade. You definetly need smaller injectors as you know now.
Do the FMS 24# injectors need to be flow-matched (which costs extra ~ $359.95) or just Hi-Flow for $219.88 from Summit? Also, will I need to burn a chip with these injectors? What should the AFPR be set at 39psi or 43.5 psi or ???
