Default side marker bulb replacement

has anyone out there ever had to replace the passenger's rear sidemarker bulb?(not the directional, but the small 24 for the red marker) If so, what the heck is that canister thing in there? How do you get it out of the way?

That's the fuel vapor canister, part of the evaporative emissions system. It might be easier to remove the right rear tire, the inner fender panel and the canister shield. You should be able to reach the bulb holder by going in from the wheel well.

Thanks a lot for the info. That's pretty much what I ended up doing except I had to take the light assembly out of the bumper to retrieve the bulb that fell down inside of it when I initially attempted to get it out. Once I resolved to take the wheel off and remove the wheelwell cover, it was a pretty straight forward process...though a little much for a .75 bulb : )

I replaced the one on my driver's side last fall. The front's are much easier, I can tell you that.
