What would cause this??????
After driving about 20 min. the car looses power and startes popping and farting, tach(autometer) flutters at 1000 and the car will soon stall out. It's done this twice but will clear itself out and run fine.
Anyone ever had this problem???
Have you checked the fuel pressure when this happens? I would do that first to isolate the fuel system before going into PCM, Ignition, or aftermarket ignition box problems.
simular systoms twice on my 94lt1.......right 02 sensor replace three times turn out to be wire in harness............second time begining of opti trouble....low res
It has always been my experience that when the tach needle fluctuates at idle, even though the engine seems to run steady, you're looking at an ignition problem.
The wives tale is that an electronic part either works or it doesn't...there's no in between.
That just isn't the actual fact. They do act up as they are dying. The fluctuating needle is the telltale. As that type of ignition symptom rarely throws a code you'll probably end up shotgunning some parts. Where you start is up to you. I hope you find it quickly!
