It's ok; the answer to my own stupid question is to put a socket on the end of the plug socket and presto! You wouldn't believe how many different tools I went thru before I came up with THAT bright idea!
Get one of these before your next plug change..it's a vette owners delight. http://www.madvet.com/-/shop?frame=1.173

Dayum... that looks cool - does it work as good as it looks?? This has to be a very well kept secret...

Re: SPARK PLUG REMOVAL ON RHD C4 (smacko)
I just used one of those for some plug removal 2 days ago. The only problem is it is a bit thick through the head making it hard to get into a tight space. It will not give enough leverage to bust the plug loose, but it is a great way to unscrew it after you get it loosened. Well worth the money though when it fits your space and it looks so cool in your toolbox!
You're talking about #8 plug, right? I just use a spark plug socket with a 3/4 inch open end wrench. The back end of the socket was manufactured to work like a 3/4 inch nut. Works like a champ.
Thanks guys...Tried that one but didn't have enough clearance to really get much leverage (Ex. Manifold AIR piping was in the way); might depend on the length of the wrench (Us Aussies call them spanners-aren't we strange?!) ehhee
As for fender removal...I'm sure I read that it's easier 2 remove engine when performing basic tune up's!

Being a smarta$z? Good one. Insult people giving advice. Are you saying it's easier to remove the engine than the fender wells? WTF?
Whatever, anyway...
Just so you know, it only takes about 5 minutes to remove them and allows you to use only a swivel head and 3" extension for all plugs. Not to mention saves your knuckles.
But what do I know, you're the one who's in such a tough spot that you had to take the time to post a thread on the subject of removing spark plugs. Not a big deal, people do it all the time. But don't be surprised if someone actually gives you advice on a better way to do things....afterall, isn't that why you asked us?
Do you think I get off on telling fellow forum members the hard way to do things?

I guess my hands are just strong Naw j/k, I have had that prob with one or 2 plugs but I just slide a small piece of steel tube over handle of sidewinder to get the leverage needed. It helps for me but I guess whatever method someone finds that works for them is good

vvv90 - Mate, I think you have some unresolved issues from your childhood! I WAS JOKING!!! I thought THAT would have been OBVIOUS! I was not insulting ANYONE, OK? I posted it because I was stuck - I respect ALL answers THAT's why I use the forum. I'm SORRY if YOU found it offensive - was just a little light-hearted chuck off at awkward fiddly things, not at anyones (Including your) reply...OK???

Thanks skateparkdave; yes, I used a steel tube as leverage for one of mine too. I reckon that I had installed the previous set too tightly; a left over habbit from years gone by. (PS; I most likely STILL installed THESE new ones too tightly, but I tried to stop myself from going overboard at least)

ahem....Well, my advice to colleagues and coworkers seemed to be falling on deaf ears that day....seemingly coincidental, but your reply did help me vent a little.
