thats what this place is for, to save us from ourselves to confirm, simply use the search function and you'll find a million posts boiling down to thiis: hypertech chips are a hyperjoke
From: What did the 5 fingers say to the face? SLAP!!
Hypertech chips do something, I just don't know what. The reason I say that is because after my rebuild with cam and head work, the stock chip couldn't keep the car running. The Hypertech chip let the car hold an idle and smoothed out the bottom end somewhat.
Here's the deal on chips. They are not for performance gains. They are to give you back your driveability after you've made major mods. At this point, they can give you a little more power, but most will be coming from the mods themself. Also, if you've made major mods, a custom chip is the only option you should consider, not an off the shelf generic. A chip on a stock car is a complete waste of money. The only possible benefit would be to lower fan temps, but Mid America sells a switch for about 20 bucks that does the same thing.
