I have my fans wired to a after market relay then to a switch. This relay gets so dam hot that it burns up after a few months!!!!!!! Need help what can I do ???????
I can only suggest using heavy gage wire (10?). If the wire is too small it will overheat the relay. Fans tend to pull a lot of amps.
Also, if your aftermarket relay is not activated by a switch to ground setup like the stock relay you may want to consider going back to a stock relay that is switched by ground. They seem to stay cool when done right.
To operate your fan manually, tap into terminal "F" of the fan relay.
Take that wire to switch in cockpit. Other side of switch goes to ground.
Of course remove that other relay that you have put in.
I truly hope I don't get flamed for this. I had the exact same problem. So I decided to connect my fan directly to the ignition. I know that it will cause you to loose some power. It will also pull more amps.
The reason for my madness was. My fan is very quiet sometimes I would forget that I left it running and my battery would drain. Also I got tired of switching it on and off. I know it sounds lazy just my .02

You could always use a relay to control that ground signal. Ign. feed switch to relay so groung is interupted when key off.

I wired both fans into one switch. The switch never heats up and the fans are only on when the ignition is on. Just make sure you get a good switch and use heavier wires.

This is the way. You don't need another relay unless your original relay(s) are bad. Remember that the fan relay (always hot) turns on by ground, not by 12 volts.
