Default Need help, hard start

Hi

I wonder if anyone can help with a starting problem. I have been chasing a code 32 for a couple of weeks now with no luck, but upto now it has had no effect on the car.
Yesterday I drove it for a while and then left it for around 1 hr, when we got back in the car it turned over ok fired once then would not fire again.
I checked that I had sparks and fuel pressure at the rails. I checked for codes and still just a 32. after doing this the car started and ran fine.
When I got home I left the cat for a while and the same thing happened. I then put it in the garage left it for a while and it started fine ?

The only difference I could see was coolant temp, yesterday was hot and sunny and the temp was around 175 when I had the problems, when the car was in the garage I checked at it was back down to about 168. does any one know at what temp the 'cold start' stops?

Any help is desperately sought as I am to France touring in a couple of weeks time and my wife will kill me if we cant take the Vet

Thanks for all the help in advance

Barry

On the code 32-did you replace the EGR switch? It would help to know what year. But my 87 had a similar problem, it turned out to be the fuel pump relay wiring had shrunk an inch or so and wires were bare and touching one another, fixed the wiring, replaced the relay and
all better now.Just a thought-and cheap check and repair.

The hard to start when engine is hot has been creeping up lately.
Still trying to figure it out.
I changed the spark plugs, wires, injectors, coil, fuel pump, fuel filter, relay, check fuel pressure but still have problem.
I guess I have to drive in the mornings and park under trees to keep engine cool until i figure this out.

I have this problem too... what does your guys cars do when it starts hard? Does it continually crank? That's the symptons i've been hearing, but mine doens't do anything like that. By the time it cranks once, it'll usually fire up

Mine will crank but won't catch. Have to wait a few minutes then it fires right up.
Maybe you have a VATS problem.

PS I didn't know ECW guys drove vettes.

Same as mine, it turns starts to catch and then just keeps on cranking, leave it a few mins and its ok?
Do I remember reading somewhere about a cable that can disable the vats ?

Anyone with any ideas ?

If it's VATS, the engine won't crank at all.
Do you have access to a fuel pressure gauge.
Just a thought here but almost seems like the 2 seconds the fuel pump is energized is insufficient to supply the required amount of pressure. While cranking the pump will remain energized and eventually bring the pressure up.
Just a thought though
Good Luck
