My '95 has noticeably better throttle response and pull when the fuel level is half tank or less. Top her off and the performance edge feels gone. We're only talking about 60lbs weight difference here, fuel level above 1/2 vs below 1/2.
Could this be a symptom of something going on with the fuel system, like a venting problem where the pump can pull fuel better with a larger air space in the tank vs. when the air volume is smaller? Maybe I don't understand how the system works.
But I seem to feel more difference in the pedal than about 60lbs of fuel should account for.
I think there's more to a C4 fuel system than meets the eye. I would run my tank low during autocrossing to save weight, but found it caused fuel starvation due to bad pickup. Started running at least a third of a tank, problem solved.
